Help Finding Pedal Part without bending over

My friend has a DW 5000 double pedal and needs the rod that connects them together. Guitar Center wants something like $140 for the part, which is a bit ridiculous to me. Any advice as to where to look for such an obscure part without having to pay for half the friggin pedal?? [img]graemlins/hmmm.gif[/img]

It all depends on how much he is willing to pay. I have the exact same double kick pedal, and rather than him paying $140, if he would be cool with $100 then I would sacrifice it... don't use it *that* much anyways. The problem is that it's near impossible to come across this part since you totally need it to play double kick, so there are not any of these floating around on their own, as he knows.

steve, i need the same for my DW 9000.....its impossible to get hold of it, and if i do its like you said, way too expensive.

i tried emailing DW as mine is less than a year old....but no reply. one of the bearings on one side now has a small gap, meaning it rattles and squeaks.

have a drum shop doing some leg work for me, but they too are waiting for DW reply

I would try to figure out a way to make one myself or have it made by a machine shop of sorts [?!!]

Or, you might try going into a few local smaller drum/music shops & see if they have any parts 'laying around'...

I know it's not much help, but i tried...payg that much for a part is INSANE.

I called DW recently about a hinge for my 5000 pedal...$45 just for that little hinge!!!!

I can't believe that linkage costs the drum shop $140. Maybe just shop it around? (...yeah, thanks mja...REAL profound there....)

There is a place in (I think) Ohio called George's Drum Shop (ask for George [img]wink.gif[/img] ). He seems to be willing to give good prices on accessories (as opposed to some shops that only give discounts on drums, cymbals, sticks, and heads, and charge list price for everything else).

I bought two Gauger RIMS from him for 38% off list, and he said he would give me like 40% or 45% off list on some Beato cases.

Louie...I've called DW a few times, and I was at least able to get an answer over the phone. You might try that if emails are going unanswered.

actually,

cartage guys are pretty cool when it comes finding odd parts. i've had luck with ross garfield, out in north hollywood. that's how i got my 'half shelled' hoop claws for my gretsch bass drum as well as t-rods. it wasn't mega cheap (and neither is pro drums on vine) but at least you won't have to 'bend over'.

Check out the Axis. They have a version that fits other pedals. I don't think it's 140 though.
